Learn about the Developer’s vision.

Born in the mountains, Justus “Jud” Ammons has been building and developing for more than 40 years.

Jud Ammons, the patriarch of the family, lives by his personal philosophy, which is the title of his book, Don’t Wish You Had, Be Glad You Did, and has served him for more than 40 years as a developer of environmentally-friendly communities, including golf courses, retirement and residential communities and commercial properties throughout North Carolina. He has received numerous building, conservation and beautification awards over the years.

But his family is the most important thing to him (though some might argue that his prize-winning beagles run a close second!). His greatest source of pride is that all four of his children have achieved success in their own right and, in the process, invest themselves in a tradition of service to others.

Their way of developing is not to leave anything to chance. That is why Mountain Traditions is a debt free community — assuring owners that everything will be finished.

Mountain Traditions is just minutes from downtown Mars Hill where Jud was born and where his family still has deep roots.

Jud sums it up, “To be able to look back and be proud of a finished neighborhood and make sure that those buying can look and see what has been done and not have to hope or guess, is my way of doing things.”

It’s also Jeff’s way. He literally grew up around the family business. After graduating from college with a degree in civil engineering, and working in environmental engineering, Jeff founded his own building company in 1994.

Now working with his father in developing Mountain Traditions into the legacy Jud always imagined, Jeff explains, “Mountain Traditions is about preserving the natural beauty and encouraging a slower pace of life, where you can enjoy family, friends and making memories.”
