Mars Hill, formerly named Pleasant Hill is a quaint college community with a population of 2,200. The people of Mars Hill are very friendly, value family and their small town atmosphere. The community residents are deep rooted in mountain traditions and have a strong focus on a simpler way of life. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains surround this community that is rich in agriculture, education and neighborliness. Activities abounds in Mars Hill. You will find a 14-acre recreation park. This park includes a softball field, a basketball court, picnic area, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and tennis courts. A children's play area includes swings, slides and rides. Mars Hill College offers public access to indoor, heated swimming pool; racquetball courts; fitness center, and lighted tennis courts.
The mountains of Western North Carolina offer a vast selection of outdoor activities such swimming, hiking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, skiing, rock climbing and camping.
